fireworks marathon

FIVE days of non-stop fireworks display… NINE competing countries….Gathered for only ONE purpose….

TO MAKE US WALK inexplicable distances on jam-packed streets and STAND for more than 4 hours until veins in our legs pop out!!

at first, curious lang kami sa world pyro olympics nayan, happening at macapagal ave., day one, China and Australia ang magffireworks display… malayo pa kami nung nagstart yung China, so nagpark kami ng sobrang alanganin, almost gitna na ng street, para lang walang mamiss-out na magandang putok! (ok ba yung term?) people were cheering… syempre! And I was really expecting China to give us one of their most spectacular fireworks display, since sa kanila nagoriginate ang fireworks…diba? (tama ba?) After China, mga 30 minutes, naka-settle na kami sa mejo magandang spot, sa harap ng SM Mall of Asia, Australia started their turn….grabe!!! we forgot about China. Super laki ng fireworks ng Australia, to the point na sumisigaw na yung mga tao ng “TAMA NA!” kasi almost babagsak na sayo yung fireworks nila…So after nun, napagod kami, we ate at North park…super dami tlgang tao, tsaka super traffic..kaya sabi namin, di na naming papanoorin yung ibang countries….pro sabi ng cousin ko, “pano kung nanalo ibang country? magsisi tyo pag di natin nakita yun!” and so 4 more days later, nacomplete nga naming yung pyro marathon namin. No absences!

nung 2nd day, it was Germany & Korea, but it was raining hard that night, kaya nagdoubt kami if tuloy sya or hindi, pero sa sobrang “Firework Fanatic” na namin, after the 1st day, pumunta parin kami… walang tao…9pm na…wala paring nagpapaputok… nung makapark kami sa magandang spot… dun palang nagstart yung unang country….it was supposed to be Germany, pero it turned out na Korea na pala yung pinanood namin…nabasa ata yung fireworks ng germany….kaya napostponed sila…aw..wawa! Cute din ng korea….nagfform ng cat yung fireworks nila…tlgang with the face, whiskers and all that… galling din!

3rd day, mas konte nlang kami ng cousins ko pmunta…. Russia and UK naman… ok lang din, wala na kaming makitang original that day…parang inulit na lang yung fireworks… (pero in fairness, ganda ng mga finale nila) so mejo nakakatamad ng bumalik the next day. Pero eto nanamang pinsan ko…nakita yung poster, U.S. will be performing daw the next day…eh ano pa nga ba? go parin kami! papalagpasin ba naming ang US?! one thing na super ok sa U.S. is yung fireworks nila na parang water falls! Super ganda!

5th day, United Arab Emerates tapos yung finale na all finalists magpapaputok… we decided na magcommute nalang pauwi kasi, yung traffic…. ibang level na!! super luwag ng macapagal pero, napuno parin cya that day! Exaj na tong day na toh…people were bringing camping tents, picnic tables, iba na tlga! kaya kami… nkaupo lang somewhere sa may sidewalk…ayoko na kasing maglakad! super late nadin nagstart yung sa Saudi, but it was so nice…may choreography yung fireworks nila…I was actually rooting for that country above all else… pero inannounce na Australia won na pala the grand prize…so yun..ok narin! They deserve it too! After nun… nagpaputok na yung Philippines with the rest of the finalists…I say, eto yung finale of all finales.. super ganda na tlga! May part dun na parang nagstick yung lights sa sky, siguro for 30 seconds…as in ang tagal nya! di namamamtay yung fireworks! ngayon lang ako nakakita ng ganun! tapos yung pinaka last part…sumabog ng super laki, at super dami! lahat na ata ng colors sumabog na nun! haha! kaya worth it tlga! i don’t think ma iimpress pako ng fireworks this new years eve! haha!

so yun, after 5 days of Pyro marathon, pagod na kami… ubos narin pera…next year na ulit! dala na din kami camping tents! haha!

2006 na!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

xmas reunion

tapus nanaman ang christmas!

we just had our christmas reunion/noche buena, sa house ng lola ko. every year we do this get-together, games, and gift giving ceremony. iba ibang venue, but since nirerent yung house namin sa multi, we decided na sa old house nlang ng lola ko icelebrate... can you believe na we all once lived in this house (as in ang dami namin, more than 5 families ang nakatira) kaya its a blast from the past everytime pmpunta kami dito... makikita ko pa yung vinandalize ko dati sa room ko nung baby pa ata ako... grabe! freaky!

anyway...as usual, our motif is red and green, pero mas madami nagred this year... pero may ibang twist this year, inisip namin na magkakaron ng prize yung may best jeans...(kami pala organizers this year) hehe! actually every year, kami ng cousins ko ang parating organizers... yung nagiisip ng games and motif etc.

this year, mejo mas konte kami, kasi may mga families na di nakapunta (kasi may konting feud in between families... so cool off muna sila) haha! mang chismis daw ba! basta i won't tell the details, ksi baka mbasa nila toh..haha! so yun, di kami complete... actually marami parin kami kahit di complete... kasi pag complete kami, ang head count is almost 60 na! tsk tsk... mother's side lang toh ah! blame it on my prolific lola! (its actually nice din to have a big family) so cguro thank you nadin lola! hehe

so yun, we had our games, una for the kids, mga the usual relay, tapos mga adults (which is always interesting to watch) since nagpapa-uto sila, kahit anong games ang iisipin namin, lalaruin nila...haha! kaya super saya. but anyway... ayun, so ang mga games namin for adults this year, is spelling game, tapos yung "pinoy henyo" (game na nilalaro sa eat bulaga) you have to guess the mystery word na nakadikit sa noo mo, by asking questions answerable by "oo, hindi, and pwede"... more like the "taboo game" kaya yun...lumabas nanaman ang mga kabaliwan ng relatives ko... haha! pero super saya...

syempre, meron din kaming talent show, may nagrecite ng poem, my cute pamangkin na si kyle... tapos may sumayaw ng "pinoy ako" which is sobrang overplayed na nung night nayun! hayayay! mga pamangkin ko din sumayaw...tapos sinabayan ng mga baliw kong titas..

tapos pagstrike ng 12mn, we exchanged gifts na... ok yung nakuha ko...t-shirt from my cousin...color pink! kaya happy ako...hehe! tapos after nun, picture taking na! may palpak lang kaming mga organizers this year, nakalimutan namin mapicturan yung buong family na pic. per generation lang... here are the pics...

Hayayay! After all the heart aches and the restlessness my new iPod nano was giving me these past few days, it finally came into a halt.

Pano ba naman…I got this knotty gadget from a friend, who has this balikbayan sister from the states… and ask her to buy an iPod for me, since it was cheaper there (or so they say) I was really excited to take hold of it and experience total musical bliss. But my wonderful expectation turned into despicable depression. And that’s when I realized, this is going to be one of those “first-timer’s ignorance to electronics-thing”. The moment I mounted it onto my computer, hoping to simply transfer a bunch of songs from my documents, it practically turned into a million-piece puzzle!

Song files were lost, error messages popped out like crazy, and I just cant get it right. And so I researched….troubleshot.....experimented…called a few iPod-wielder friends. For 2 days I was sleep deprived, but it wasn’t helping! (nga pala! I even cried! literally!) but I still get the same errors. And so the time has come to search for iPod repair centers, which apparently are granting international warranties, hence, the free repairs and replacements. whew! fortunately!

It was a beam of new hope. I ran quickly to the nearest apple center, which is at greenbelt 1, and in just a snap, they fixed my iPod almost instantly. It turned out, that it’s not my Ipod to blame, but my computer! Apparently my USB port is not powerful enough.. bla bla bla!

So the only thing to do, is to transfer songs from a different computer… luckily my mom’s office computer was alright with that. And it made it happen. So much for patronizing my own computer, it’s not iPod compatible… haha!

constantine

its almost 3am and I just got home after watching harry potter and a mini-concert of my season 4 american idol non-winner favorite, constantine maroulis, (which i will refer to as CM hereinafter...name's a bit long). Papunta palang ako greenbelt, and cookie was already bombarding me with text, telling me to hurry up, coz apparently, cm was rehearsing earlier, and people weren't that aware, so you can actually approach him instead of just glimpsing. but, sadly i arrived short, and he was on his way to the hotel room to prepare for his performance later that evening.

i caught cookie, the die-hard-"laglag-panty"-fanatic, lining up to buy his albums. apparently the first 150 purchasers of the album will have the opportunity to have it signed by cm personally. so cookie bought 2 albums, amounting to 2 passes for the autograph signing. Dottie arrived, and instantly bought herself a copy too. so ayun. super aga namin, 6pm palang, eh ang start ng show 8pm pa... kaya nag-abang na kami dun sa railing, barricading the spectators (us) from the VIP's reserved seats (the hell with them!)

so bale 2 hours namin kelangan tumayo just to reserve our valuable position which was a clear unobstructed front view of the stage. so i have to run to starbucks, got ourselves a snack, and went back as fast as i can, before other scavengers take my place.
so after non...cm appeared...girls were screaming, gays were swooning, guys were like "huh?", and mothers were actually chanting: "ay laab yoo conntantan!" --thats what i actually heard from where im standing"

he sang the songs i expect him to sing, kasi kung hindi , babatuhin ko sya ng bote ng mineral water. then after the show, cd signing... and here is his pic, while signing my cd (actually cookie's cd, which i borrowed") despite of the very strict organizers who didn't allow picture taking!

poster niya, na nakablock sa view ng ibang tao, buti nalang tinanggal later on.
antay for 2 hours....walang upuan yan!
constantine
after that show, nanood na kami ni ccokie ng last full show ng harry potter, until 2am... which had drastically overshadowed my hang over from constantine"
i mean it was a great movie... maybe my favorite among all the harry potter installments...much more darker, scarier, and funnier. i like the yule ball part, in particular...
p.s. katabi pa namin si yasmien from starstruck sa movie house. la lang.

been listening to madonna's new dance track lately (i know wat ur thinking... how much gayer can i get?) its a mix of techno dance and an 80's abba song sample, which makes it a superb fresh material. just one run through of the song, and it will seep deep inside your head.

though im not really a madonna fan, i've never been this excited to listen to her new songs off her new album. (album cover shown above...she's pink!) yep, u can see how its goin to be, madonna will be rapidly infecting all the queers out there... again. which is a good thing, because a huge percentage of madonna's fanbase are gays..huge enough to make a homo-tropolis.

i hope she recovers well with the launching and the sales of this baby. she should pull herself up, after her previous album flop, american life.

p.s. i also love alicia keys new song unbreakable....her voice is beyond words.
and also, i hate frankie j! no original thing going on on that guy... he's tryin to be usher but he's not. hope he change his style

last night was the closing slash halloween party of our exhibit, which btw was a casual but rowdy party. it was quite fun but not as fun as what I've expected it...i was hoping for a lot of dancing...hehe but didn't have the chance bcoz, walang matinong sound system. sayang! nung afternun, didi and dodo checked in sa new world hotel, and so I sqeezed myself in, to still have the feel of it, even if im not staying. so yun.. pictorial galore muna, before we went to the exhibit. then after ng awarding and few shots of alchohol dun sa party, i hurried home. para makahabol sa overnight stay namin sa cemetery... excited din ako kasi, dami namin binili paraphernalia for our overnight. bumili si mama ng camping tents, tapos bumili kami ng games. uno cards, scrabble, bingo, and so on. kaya super saya din. twas a get together with my cousins....mejo naubos lang ata pera ko sa bingo...haha! pero sarap matulog sa tent... first time ko! and i liked it... i have to try it sa mountains or by the beach... but anyway... just got home, and i'm feeling tired and funky... so nagpainit muna ako tubig, then ligo nako..

it's another "temple night"... we've promised each other to go out this weekend, and so it was granted. plus, we were joined by the company of gian, feliz, julie and leni! the more, the manier...right? kaya it was a long, hot, but fun night... again, temple bar was jam packed with people body bumpin' while dirty dancin' and cuddlin'.

papatalo ba kami? siempre hindi! cookie and I, had our own exhibition dances to boast off... (ala jessica alba in Honey) ofcourse may kanya kanya din dancin styles sila kris, dots, feliz and julie...ganda ng music... pinatugtog "ever after", everybody covered their ears and complained... (NO! NOT AGAIN!) tapos leni started mentioning the sponsors of our exhibit... (with her hand-flash action) --mimicing our "tireless over-played exhibit video." it was also the first time aynns tasted an alcoholic drink... leni ordered her a glass "tequila rose" (a strawberry milk vodka) sabi namin "aynns baby...eto na gatas mo!" haha!

then we ended the night with a light snack at mcdo. Aynns, bie cookie and I, went straight to bie's mom's office, after that...

just got home from our "nads-catching-up-night-out"
our friend, nads, visited our exhibit and checked out the booths, which she will also be doing hopefully sooner.. hehe... cguro after she conceived na her baby...she's preggy kasi eh.

anyway... saya ng night out namin...1st kumain kami sa ever-so-famous-since-the-exhibit na Kitchen at gb3... then derecho hardrock cafe sa g3... (last time i was at hardrock was 2nd year highschool pa ata) we watched the fashion show of dickies, kasama kasi bf ni nads na si mark... or i can call him her hubby narin cguro..hehe

anyway...it was a fun show...star studded cya!! randy santiago, viva hot babes and men.. troy montero and aubrey miles, ara mina and katya santos... and some other stars... meron din cute na model...i snapped a few shot, and meron ako nakuha mejo malinaw hehe...(below)

(actually mich was a little distracted that time! ehem ehem! reason??....... two letters!) haha!

tapos ayon..kwentuhan...i was actually observing nads and "whom she refers to as Mahal" Mark, they look happy naman together, so mejo relieved naman ako na alam nman ni nads what she's doing.... (err.. i hope) sana kayanin nya... baka bugbugin nya tiyan nya pag lumaki! haha! i hope not! sabi ko nga magcrunches cya kahit malaki na tyan nya...para may abs! haha! weird nun! buntis na may abs! hahahaha!

I slept and slept and slept the whole day yesterday, trying to recuperate after the unbelievably dreadful day that was, this past saturday. I’m telling you, when your day started with a downer, it will surprisingly follow and haunt you down to the last hour of that day. and so I wept. not because I’m getting tired of it, but because I’m…

well…yeah…that’s it…im getting tired of it. Wahaha!

so to refresh my mind, i hibernated the next day, and finished the last season of “desperate housewives”

I got so addicted, I even took the desperate housewives quiz, and it turns out I’m more of a Gabrielle.

My personal favorite though was Susan. Bree is kinda freaking me out… she reminds me of Nicole Kidman in the movie Stepford Wives.

Not to mention, “drools for mike delfino and john the gardener!”

And so…today, back to the usual work. Our wood planks were installed (luckily, leaving no marks of blood or any sliced fingers)…. What really surprised me was the accent wall… mukang tae. I have to introduce this finish to boysen….. “the LBM finish”.

and so it begins...

our exhibit construction finally took off. all the fatigue and exhaustion mixed with a bit of idiocy and fooling around make it all complete. all these things happen in just a few days time. i couldn't even imagine what's in store for the next couple of weeks. will there be more traumatizing dilemnas? more gossips/issues spreading like epidemia? more sawdust and dirt to exhale? more debris and clutter of crumbles to clean? only our hectic time can tell.

i really hope this exhibit will be a big success. (and im sure it will be)
--bulging eyebags, and acne breakouts are part of the package.

to make it really pay off... pls do come to our exhibit...

puppy-sitting

we went to cartimar yesterday to buy a bunch of gizmos for my delectable pup, Kiwi… my mom and I were equally excited when we look through different kinds puppy-collars. We chose a couple of pink and red ones to fixate my mind that Kiwi is actually a girl. (a baby bitch) since we never had a bitch before, I perceive that all dogs are male. So we have to accessorize her, just to be clear on that.

We also bought her, some chew bones, a rubber ball, some dishes, and pedigree…

anyway today, I was so thrilled to have found out that my tita, living next door, would go out-of-town and leave her puppy “Jesse” to me… (jesse is the sister of kiwi, they all came from a litter of 5) is there anything more fun than having one adorable pup? Yes! Two adorable pups! So it was a day of nonstop gnawing, running, peeing, pooping and even humping!! A pregnant kiwi would be a great breakthrough! conceiving even smaller ones… like the size of a hamster.

Saturday, August 20, 2005

again, i have to live another day of complete idleness. perfect time to do a blog entry.

i was up all night doing the booth poster layouts for our exhibit, and at the same time thinking tormenting thoughts on how to possibly finish the layouts for the annual and souvenir programs in time. i've been working my butt off for these layouts and it always feels like it's just the tip of the iceberg. so help me lord. haha

cookie also texted me last night to switch to channel 48 becoz the movie "exorcist" is being shown. paglipat ko palang ng channel, kinikilabutan nako! tamang tama, paglipat ko it was the "head-twisting, vagina-stabbing" scene and it was chilling! di ko maderecho panoorin, so palipat lipat ako ng channel. akala ko tlga brave nako sa mga ghost movies kasi lately, mga scary movies ngayon wala ng effect sakin tlga. "exorcist" is a different story tlaga. still the scariest movie of all.

so, as expected... i slept beside my mom.

anyway, today naman, i locked myself in my mom's room (aircon kasi..hehe) and watched the vcd's and dvd's i bought but still haven't seen. I first watched "mrs.doubtfire" then "y tu mama tambien". the latter was a bit shocking, since i wasn't expecting the revealing scenes shown there. but i liked the story despite of the distracting frontal exposures of both the actors and actresses there. the story revolved around this two guys who went for a road trip with this girl. along the trip, they were playfully seduced by th girl, and started sexing them up. haha! the ending was quite controversial since there was this drunken night where they had a threesome and unleashed this heat between the two guys. yep! you heard it right, the girl was pushed away, and the guys went on. it was a gay ending. a shanghai surprise!

after that, i fell asleep., lamig kasi, kaya nakatulog ako... i woke up, opened the door... and there's veronica and charlie, doing number 17....the spread eagle!! (ay line na pala sa movie yun! haha)

anyway alis nako...bili kami ink for the printer...so i can print the sponsor email messages...chow!

new pup!

my tita gave me a 3-week old pup (a cross between "aso" and "kalye")... since she said she can't afford to raise 5 pups, she insisted me to take one.

whew!

and i thought i will not have the chance to have one day of rest this week. today's a monumental occasion. no painful sound of alarm clock woke me up this morning... i felt like i was on a break from a month-long of intense labor. but i have to accept the fact that there is more work to come, and stressful jobs to deal with. woopay!

anyway. i love natasha bedingfield's song "unwritten"... the words are somewhat inspiring and refreshing... i think people should listen to this song...especially these times of total adversities.

I am unwritten, can't read my mind,
I'm undefinedI'm just beginning,
the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

trip with the titas

I went to tagaytay today with my titas... At first I was reluctant to join them, but since I was dead-bored in the house, I told myself, Hell YEAH! I hav’ta go! a few quality time with the gurangs (a term i collectively call them) won't be that bad. Well I didn’t regret it either. The trip was fun, the weather up there was cool, cool enough to calm me up and forget all the stressful city-related drudgeries.

After stopping by at Josephine’s which, by the way is such a cool restaurant, we did our own little pictorials outside. My tita’s, namely tita edith, tita claire, tita nats, tita lits and my mother… came frolicking in the garden and did a lot of funny poses for the cam. When we were in the van, they reminisced and talked about their early days living in Quiapo, (their hometown) being quite impoverished back then. They recalled the way they poop every time their common bath’s toilet clogs up, (nung mga dalaga pa sila) What they did was they do their no.2 on newspapers, wrap it with plastic and throw it on the roof next door. HAHAHA! Laughtrip sila kanina! and imagine the shrilling voices they had while laughing!! all of a sudden I thought I was the most mature one on-board.

Anyway our main purpose is to purchase fresh fruits and plants. And so we did. The van was filled with different kinds of plants and fruits, it was a jungle inside, and it smelled really awful too. Probably because of the langka, the cape barako and the vinegar aromas combined.

By the way, my mother agreed to let me rip her pants, just like my torn jeans, since I said it was the “in-thing” kuno. She was so “bagets” kanina! Hahaha!
